Balboa this Monday

This Monday 7th March will see our second installment of Balboa lead by Stephen Cheason followed by social dancing to music suitable for all swing-dance styles. Hop on in!

Don’t forget to swing on down to Thursday’s Evening Swing at Hoochie Coochie on the 10th.

As always, to be Covid Safe we request guests only attend if they have had a negative LFT within 48 hours and are feeling well.
You are not required to bring your own partner, we rotate partners in the lesson, or if you’d prefer you can stick with the same one (committee members are always on hand if coming solo)

Venue Tonight

We have just been informed our venue has heating troubles. Fear not! Swing Tyne are still going ahead as usual, but be warned it may be a bit more tepid than usual, so an extra layer is advisable

Balboa is Back!

Tomorrow night at Summerhill… BALBOA IS BACK! 🤩 Whether you’re polishing up your dancing after the break, or just starting out, we have something in the lesson plan for everyone.

Not sure what Balboa is? Well it’s a compact swing dance style from Southern California in the 1920’s, loosely related to Charleston and Lindy Hop.

Come with or without a partner, but please check our Covid-19 Policy (https://swingtyne.com/covid-policy/) so we can all stay safe.

See you all tomorrow!

First Lesson Music

Thanks so much to everyone who came out for our first lesson, it was great to see so many new faces! If you want to find it and dance along in the kitchen the song we danced to tonight was Send For Me by Nat King Cole.

Hope to see everyone again next week for Balboa and in two weeks for more Lindyhop!

Weekly Classes Update

Hello! We’re delighted to say we’ll be dancing at Summerhill EVERY Monday, starting with Lindy Hop on February 14th then alternating with Balboa from Feb 21st.

Doors 7pm, beginner-friendly class 7.30pm, social dancing 8.30pm onwards. £7/£4 social only. All welcome.

Please note: this is a transition phase for Swing Tyne as we re-enter a new normal, build people’s confidence on the dance floor and establish the demand for lessons. One, single-level class (alternating between Lindy Hop and Balboa for now, with Collegiate Shag tasters coming soon) will be followed by music for all swing dancers.

We look forward to seeing some familiar faces and welcoming brand new ones!
