Not sure which class?
Our FUNdamentals class is designed around people who are new to balboa or swing and lindy hop or those who are wanting to review the essentials.
Our All Levels class is suitable for those who have a good grasp of the basic footwork and a few moves in your dance repertoire.

Balboa Lesson on Monday

Happy Bank Holiday everyone… Round off your weekend with our fortnightly, fun & friendly, all levels Balboa class from 7.30pm at Summerhill Bowling Club.

This Monday, Tracey and Stephen will be building up your comearound and throwout. There’ll be something for everyone, whether you’re coming for the first time or have been dancing for years.

Swing Tyne! is all about enjoying the music and dancing with friends, so as ever we’ll be social dancing until 10:30pm. Feel free to join us, even if you can’t make it in time for the class. There will be a variety of tunes suitable for all Swing Dance styles.

Classes on Easter Monday

We’ll be on as usual Easter Monday (that’s this coming Monday if all the Easter eggs in Supermarkets hasn’t given it away).

This week will be a swing style from Southern California… Balboa. Not tried it before? Perfect, all Swing Classes are currently suitable for beginners and dancers looking for a reboot.

There will be an eggciting announcement about teachers soon with a Easter friendly egg(head) theme!

We’ll tune up the core foundations and explore possibilities for exciting movements!

COVID Announcement

We have just been informed we have had 3 positive COVID tests from folk who attended Monday’s (7th) balboa lesson, plus another for Hoochie Coochie last night.
Advise everyone who was at either event do an LFT to be safe, and please report it to us if you come up positive so we can manage.

Polite reminder to only attend any Swing Tyne event, lesson or social if you feel well and have had a negative LFT within 48hours of attendance (unless exempt)

Balboa this Monday

This Monday 7th March will see our second installment of Balboa lead by Stephen Cheason followed by social dancing to music suitable for all swing-dance styles. Hop on in!

Don’t forget to swing on down to Thursday’s Evening Swing at Hoochie Coochie on the 10th.

As always, to be Covid Safe we request guests only attend if they have had a negative LFT within 48 hours and are feeling well.
You are not required to bring your own partner, we rotate partners in the lesson, or if you’d prefer you can stick with the same one (committee members are always on hand if coming solo)

Venue Tonight

We have just been informed our venue has heating troubles. Fear not! Swing Tyne are still going ahead as usual, but be warned it may be a bit more tepid than usual, so an extra layer is advisable

Balboa is Back!

Tomorrow night at Summerhill… BALBOA IS BACK! 🤩 Whether you’re polishing up your dancing after the break, or just starting out, we have something in the lesson plan for everyone.

Not sure what Balboa is? Well it’s a compact swing dance style from Southern California in the 1920’s, loosely related to Charleston and Lindy Hop.

Come with or without a partner, but please check our Covid-19 Policy (https://swingtyne.com/covid-policy/) so we can all stay safe.

See you all tomorrow!

First Lesson Music

Thanks so much to everyone who came out for our first lesson, it was great to see so many new faces! If you want to find it and dance along in the kitchen the song we danced to tonight was Send For Me by Nat King Cole.

Hope to see everyone again next week for Balboa and in two weeks for more Lindyhop!
