Lots to look forward to for your dancing next week!

On Monday, our usual weekly classes are back on (lindy hop in Summerhill, shag in St Matthew’s) with an evening social dance.

On Thursday, we are supporting The Magpies at their charity gig for The Globe – get your tickets in advance.

And on Friday, we will be paying a visit to Hoodoo Blues for a beginner-friendly class and a party at Prohibition.

There will be no Revolucion de Cuba social this month, so grab these social dancing opportunities and get yourself on the dance floor!

This evening, join us for our usual swing dance classes. In St Matthew’s, Sarah and Graeme will be teaching an introduction to slow balboa; in Summerhill, Jane and Jenny will be teaching lindy hop. Social dancing will start at 9PM as usual. Can’t wait to see you there!

Tomorrow we are back on as usual! Hilary and Jane will be teaching improvers and beginners lindy hop at Summerhill, while over at St Matthew’s Elise and Owen will be throwing down with some shag. Social dancing will start at 9PM at Summerhill as usual 🙂

Next week, Graeme and Sarah will be giving us an introduction to slow balboa – a smooth and flowy dance style full of delightful textures, unlike anything you’ve done before! So make sure to pop over to St Matthew’s to give it a go.

Tonight is out Annual General Meeting! Classes are suspended for the evening. Join us from 19:30 to talk about all things Swing Tyne and help us shape your local dance community, with a nice side of tea and biscuits 🙂

At 21:00, Magpies of Swing will be on stage for social dancing. You can also see the Magpies perform at the Globe on the 10th of April in support of this fantastic, beloved local venue – save the date or grab your tickets via The Globe website.

On Wednesday, come along to Hoodoo blues for a slow jazz/jazzy blues class with Melissa and Anders (6:20PM start) at Prohibition Cabaret Bar – email melissadavy@googlemail.com with code “Swing Tyne special” to get a discounted fee. Afterwards, we will be going to Revolucion de Cuba for our free monthly social dance.

We are back on tonight with balboa lessons in St Matthew’s and lindy hop in Summerhill!

We are also excited to announce our annual general meeting, which will take place on Monday the 17th of this month. There will be no classes on this day – instead, we will host a forum to elect the next year’s Swing Tyne committee and hear your feedback on the way things have been run this year. We are committed to always improving our organisation and helping this community flourish, so please join us and make your voice heard.

And to make this even more rewarding, we are happy to share that the Magpies of Swing will be playing at the social dance after the meeting! Come along in your springtime finest, vote, chat, and let’s have a boogie 😉

We will be holding our usual shag and lindy hop lessons tomorrow at 7:30PM and 8:20PM, with an extra-special social dance afterwards! Come along and boogie with us to the lovely Magpies of Swing performing live.
