We are really excited to announce our July Lindy Hop workshop!
This workshop is going to ask participants to dig deep and look at their own style and what they bring to the dance. We expect attendees to have been dancing for long enough to feel comfortable with social dancing and ready to mess around, get creative, communicate with their partner and connect to the music!
We expect participants to be familiar with essential lindy hop moves and comfortable social dancing. If you need a recap of these moves please sign up to the May fundamental workshop!
Level – Improvers and onwards
I think we have found a fantastic teaching couple to you do exactly that! John and Molly are experienced dancers and teachers who regularly teach, perform and compete together. We will share more about these two fabulous dancers in coming weeks so stay tuned!

Cost: £25 ( £15 for those who cannot afford – ie low income, student etc)
Straight after the workshop we invite attendees to join us for evening meal and a social dance with DJ’s ( meal details TBC)
What is happening at Swing Tyne in the month of June and beyond?
Stand well back and split yourselves in 2 as there’s lots going on with social dancing, live bands, workshops and of course our regular lessons. (in fact, we are not able to list every event here so apologies if something has been missed).
Make sure you add the dates to your diaries, and we will see you all on the dance floor.
There’s so much going so why not share the fun and invite a friend to come along and try Swing Dancing with you – remember their 1st lesson night is free!

This is a perfect way for you to solidify the building blocks of moves in Lindy.

This week, there is a change to our weekly lessons.
As it is a bank holiday, lessons will ONLY be at Summerhill.
There will be extended lesson for all and a bit more social dancing.
It will be a Lindy Hop lesson, that is followed by social dancing.
The Lindy Hop lesson will start at 19:30.
Usual service will resume next week.
Why has there been the change?
We know that you are all keen beans and we are constantly planning more workshops, lessons, socials and bands. Running our standard Mondays takes seven volunteers (four teachers, two door and one DJ).
This change relieves the pressure a little and helps us maintain the balance between volunteers enjoying the Bank Holiday while still providing something at Swing Tyne for all.

Firstly, before I tell you what’s on this week, I want to mention that we have a fundamentals Lindy Hop Workshop on the 25th of May!

We are running an intermediate Lindy workshop in July and this fundamental workshop is a brilliant way to ensure you have the understanding required to attend the intermediate workshop.
There are a few swing events happening at The Globe this evening.
This afternoon, there will be swing dance tasters taught by Alec and Ola. These are free but you do need to register for them. You can register here.
Tonight, at The Globe, there will be danceable music provided by Alligator Gumbo. Tickets for that can be purchased here.
And after Alligator Gumbo, there will be music, which is DJ-d by our very own Elise Hopper!

This is a fantastic way to social dance to faster songs and work on Balboa and Shag skills.

This weekend marks 10 Years of The Globe being a co-operative venue (one of the only ones in the UK) and to celebrate, there’s a few swing things going on!
Sunday afternoon has a few swing things including some free dance tasters lead by Alec and Ula:
