Our Balboa + Lindy Hop classes are on this coming Monday! Doors open at 7pm, with social dancing until 10:30pm.
Our Beginners in Balboa programme will also start this Monday during our usual beginner Balboa session, 19:30–20:10 at St. Matthew’s Church.
It’s a great place to learn the basic moves from scratch — especially for anyone new to Balboa or who hasn’t danced for ages. You’ll build a solid foundation in Balboa. First time? It’s free! No reservation needed, everyone is welcome. Details below.

University of Leeds Swing Society presents a full weekend of classes, socials, live music, and lots and lots of swingouts! Live music from Tessa and the Applejacks. Details
9 May – Hoodoo Blues
Join them for a fantastic night of blues dancing. Whether you’re new to blues or have been dancing for a while, this is the perfect place to enjoy great music, dance, and social connection. Everyone is welcome, regardless of experience level. Details
16 May – Beginner Lindy Hop Workshop
Summer Tyne is near, and to help you get prepared, we invite you to join our upcoming Lindy beginner workshop. This event is specifically designed for dancers with less than a year of experience who want to hone their technique and build a well-rounded skillset — as well as anyone interested in trying out a new role in partnership. 23 May – Cumbria: Saturday Night’s Alright For Dancing
A welcoming social evening featuring a diverse mix of tempos perfect for Lindy Hop, Charleston, Balboa, and Collegiate Shag. The focus is entirely on enjoying the music and grooving the night away in a judgement-free environment. All levels are welcome to join us for a fun, friendly night on the dance floor! Details
30 May – Bal Brunch
Join us for our monthly fast-tempo social dance hosted by Geoff and Mim at HOLY HOBO, 14:30–18:00. This event is a dedicated space for Balboa and Shag enthusiasts, yet we warmly welcome newcomers looking to join the community and experience faster swing rhythms. Please note that dates and times are subject to change, so stay tuned for updates!
5–7 June – Summer Tyne Swing
Less than 6 weeks to go — a couple more spaces still left. Most of the classes are well balanced, apart from Shag, where we need 5 more leads to cover the follower waitlist. Whereas if you buy a couple of tickets, there is no waitlist.
