On next Monday 23rd February, we’ll be holding our Annual General Meeting (AGM). This is for everyone — no matter how long or short you’ve been coming to Swing Tyne.
Please note: there will be no lessons that evening, but we’ll still have social dancing afterwards, so don’t forget your dancing shoes!
Why do we have an AGM?
Your voice matters – It gives members the chance to share ideas, provide feedback and help shape the future of Swing Tyne.
Accountability – Many members contribute an enormous amount of time, effort, and money to keep Swing Tyne running. The AGM is an opportunity for Committee to be accountable and transparent about what we’ve been doing, how decisions are made, and how our money is spent.
New Committee election – General voting where outgoing committee members step down, and new or re-elected members take over for the next 12 months.
28 Feb – Bal Brunch Our monthly Bal Brunch is back from 2:30–6:15pm at Holy Hobo— with the theme of love! Come and spread your love of swing in its Balboa and Shag forms. And wear red, either your favourite Bal or Shag T-shirt, or simply an item of clothing you love most.

On Monday 23rd February, we’ll be holding our Annual General Meeting (AGM). There will be no lessons that night, but social dancing will follow. We strongly encourage everyone to attend!
Why do we have an AGM?
Your voice matters – It gives members the chance to share ideas, provide feedback and help shape the future of Swing Tyne.
Accountability – It ensures the committee remains accountable. Members contribute through entry fees, and it’s important to show how these funds are spent.
Committee election – General voting where outgoing committee members step down, and new or re-elected members take over for the next 12 months.
Constitution changes
After over 15 years, we’re proposing a small refresh to the constitution to bring certain points up-to-date and make it easier to run events like Summer Tyne Swing. The proposed changes will be discussed and put to a vote at the AGM.
